I HAVE COMPOSED THIS LETTER FOR ANY AND ALL TO COPY/PASTE AND SEND AS YOUR OWN , TO YOUR LOCAL GOVERMENTAL REPRESENTITIVES , GOVERNOR, AND /OR LOCAL PAPERS(EDITORIAL DIVISION), AND JUST SIGN YOUR OWN NAME, OR DONT SIGN , BUT SEND IT ANYWAY...
THE REASONS ARE OBVIOUS.
It should be brought to the attention of this community that a scientifically perceived threat exists in our path in the next few years , in the form of solar flare activity and its subsequent potential for damage to our technological systems and life support structures in general.. Which according to a NASA funded study done by The National Academy of Sciences (NAS), could be life threatening, given the general unpreparedness of the population. And rather than paint an ugly picture of possible unpleasant scenarios that could play out in such a mishap, I will direct my energy into a better alternative. That of Preparation by and for the community as a whole, securing our continuity of life's basic needs of food and water, should a lengthy power outage occur(as in months to years the NAS report warns ).
It just seems logical , that if we see a train on the tracks, we should maneuver to our advantage, whether the train arrives or not. Point is, if this train came in unchecked, we would have bypassed our preparation stage , in regrettable favor of far greater challenges then thrust upon our lives. In a intelligent civilized society, where is the wisdom in that?
I am simply proposing that, we the people , should have , for instance, a large storage faculty centrally located in our area, stocked with food, water, and whatever supplies and resources are deemed appropriate for the support of our people, aimed at minimizing trauma , but always with the goal of insuring survivability. You can debate the warnings given by NASA and Fox News segments and the NAS report, perhaps later, but for now, let's move something forward into the process it takes to politically /socially make our needs known and quickly addressed. And this may not be economically popular my friends, but the stakes are now beyond us daring to take a moments pause in the quicksand of monetary debate , unless such discussion and direction is a unified prioritized instrument of the care of, we the people. We all might now collectively take a deep and reflective look at our current priorities, and consider how they can and do change in an instant, often in our personal lives , in the form of disease, loss of loved ones , and/or economic hardships.
And it should be understood , we are far too humble in our expectations from our government to address this concern nationally, but here, among our community, there is no excuse to ignore our needs , those being that of every man, woman and child, who's future could be jeopardized needlessly by speculation , when nothing short of unified action is the most obvious use of our intelligence and resources in the priority of human care for one another.
So may the political wheels that must usually roll slowly down avenues that are economically non profitable, though socially imperative, take their stand on the welfare of the people they serve, by unitedly addressing this issue. The cost is unimportant, in the light of what price we may be asked to pay for our willingness to gamble with nature. In short, simple preparation can avert or divert catastrophic disaster , into a manageable process of sustainable support , therefore, contributing to a more rapid restoration of normalcy and well being.
And if we do this for ourselves, and we never need it, we still did the right thing, for the right reasons. That still matters, right? Yes it does, and its very possible, we may all appreciate just how much it matters in the near future.
Respectfully submitted for your deepest consideration
and for all our wellbeing
